"As with
expeditions into the
wilds when we have
endured storms and rapids,
cold and sleet, and sometimes lack
of food, it is ultimately the good
things we remember"

Adventure Network International
(ANI) is the only private company in the world
currently offering airborne travel into Antarctica.
|
Operating an Ilyushin-76 from Punta Arenas in Chile
to its base camp at Patriot Hills, ANI also has two
Twin Otters and a Cessna 185 in the interior, a region
seldom seen by anyone other than professional adventurers
and members of scientific expeditions.
Among the selection of wonderful programs, departing
from Punta Arenas, are private flights to the Geographic
South Pole and a photo safari to visit the magnificent
Emperor Penguin colony at the Dawson-Lambton glacier.
Join ANI on a Ski Safari in the Ellsworth Mountains
which will take you through areas such as Horseshoe
Valley to the Union Glacier and beyond; or have the
smorgasbord ANI's aptly named Heart of Antarctica program
offers, which is an Antarctic experience in one package,
including snow-mobiling, hiking, light climbing, camping
trips and a breathtaking flight in the local area.
|
Antarctica, the highest, coldest, driest,
most windswept place on earth
.truly the
last frontier
|
|
|
Mountaineers are sure to find plenty to stimulate their
adventurous spirit in ANI's climbing expeditions to
Vinson Massif in the Ellsworth Range and in the Transantarctic
Mountains, both of which are accessed from Punta Arenas,
Chile and Dronning Maud Land, a spectacular new area
which they fly into from Cape Town, South Africa.

|
For those with more time to spare you may wish to participate
in ANI's Ski to the South Pole Expedition. This is a
journey from the edge of the Antarctic Continent to
the Geographic South Pole on skis. T.G.
says - not for the faint hearted!
 |
|
If time does not afford you the
luxury of 60 days vacation then join ANI on their
Ski the Last Degree Expedition form 89° South
to the Geographic South Pole at 90° South.

Why Travel with ANI?
Ranking in complexity with the exploration of space,
private sector travel to the interior of Antarctica
used to be virtually impossible. Nature had imposed
a succession of formidable logistical barriers on the
icy continent to all that dared to try in the past.
Adventure Network International was the first company
to break through those barriers, allowing tourists,
scientists and expeditions to journey to Antarctica
and achieve the fulfillment of lifetime dreams.
Since ANI's beginning in 1985, the company has gone
from strength to strength. They have now carried over
1,000 passengers to Antarctica and using large aircraft
operating out of Punta Arenas direct to Patriot Hills,
ANI has safely completed more than 120 return flights.
The Twin Otters have flown more than 4,000 hours, and
the Cessna 185 more than 500 hours.
|
By early 1998, the total distance flown over
the icy continent by ANI aircraft was approximately
1.5 million miles.
|
|
|
ANI's safety standards are second to none, their staff
is among the most experienced polar guides, and their
resources are tailored to the Antarctic environment.
ANI's commitment and enthusiasm for the white continent
is as strong today as ever.
