Pure
Relaxation; Natural Splendour
On
The Royal Scotsman, you will find total relaxation
is achieved with remarkable ease. The Observation Car
is an Edwardian masterpiece of refined, relaxed elegance.
Here, you can relax on a large sofa or comfortable
armchair, and take in the ever-changing scenery outside
your window. If you would like to get even closer to
Scotland’s natural beauty, the verandah at the
rear of the train is an exhilarating spot to catch
the air as it swishes gently past.
The
great outdoors provides inspiration for the dinner
table too. Scotland is home to some of the world’s
most sought after natural ingredients. Salmon, shellfish,
game and Angus beef are specialities here, and all
are used with verve and imagination by the award-winning
chef. Served in two dining cars, richly decorated with
mahogany paneling, sumptuous fabrics and fresh flowers,
the restaurant on The Royal Scotsman is regarded as
one of Britain’s finest. Naturally, meals are
accompanied by a selection of fine wines and champagne.
Afterwards you may decide to round things off in the
traditional way, with a dram or two from the selection
of pure malt whiskies.
Another
fine tradition, and one that usually goes hand in
hand with a good whisky, is the Scottish ceilidh.
And you may well find yourself enjoying a jig or two
during one of the many excursions. These include fascinating
visits to romantic castles and famous distilleries,
where personal guides offer an insight into the country’s
unique heritage. In keeping with the luxury of The
Royal Scotsman, you will be whisked there and back
in its own liveried motor coach.
Your Own Haven of Luxury
The
Royal Scotsman is often described as the finest country
house hotel, on wheels. It’s an accolade
that you will happily agree with as you turn in for
the night. Each State Cabin, whether twin or single,
is beautifully decorated in rich mahogany with delicate
marquetry. In your own private bathroom, you will find
a plentiful supply of fluffy white towels and elegant
toiletries, as well as constant hot water for your
shower and hand basin. A good night’s sleep is
assured by the nightly stabling of The Royal Scotsman
in a quiet siding or station.
